With nearly four decades of amassed experience in the design, development, construction and operation of bioenergy facilities VEPOWER is well placed to provide technical services to biofuel makers and energy plant operators around the World.

Biofuels: VEPOWER’s principle engineering team has been responsible for the design, development, construction and operation of 5 biodiesel refineries in the last 12 years. The last site was the largest such facility in Europe at the time of construction and processed more than 1500 tonnes of used cooking oil (UCO) into biodiesel every week.

The Company’s technology enables plants small to large to process a variety of feedstocks in producing high quality fuel with great efficiency and consistency of standard (such as EN-14214, DIN V 51606 and ASTM D6751). Processes can include filtration which can remove particles to a sub-micron, even nanometre scale and molecular sieve technology.

Energy: VEPOWER technology enables power plant developers and operators to utilise sustainable biofuels such as virgin vegetable oils or even used cooking oils (UCO) in the efficient production of electrical and heat energy.

VEPOWER’s fuel systems are designed to homogenise or communise fuels to specifications suited for diesel engines, turbines and boilers (fuel systems can also be designed and implemented wherever combustion is used for energy production in process or power production).

VEPOWER technology also allows the application of heat energy derived from the combustion apparatus to be used in a number of other applications by way of the Company’s proprietary CHP heat battery. This allows heat to delivered to a process or piece of equipment at carefully controlled temperatures from 50 to 400 degrees centigrade (120 – 750 Fahrenheit).

Ecology/sustainability/agronomics: Bioenergy has often been tainted with slurs based around the sustainability of the crops and methods used to produce fuel or power. Sadly, many of these accusations have been to a greater or lesser extend justified.

VEPOWER has expertise to assist all bioenergy projects in assessing, assuring and potentially enhancing their sustainability. Various criteria can be examined to suit the definitions of the various standards employed in the industry.

The Company also has the knowledge base to assist in the development of plant husbandry for the efficient and sustainable cultivation of energy crops. VEPOWER has developed treatments to supplement or fortify the plants and soil to enhance both yield and local ecology.

The above capacity stems from in depth knowledge and understanding of the natural world, especially as it applies to agriculture. This capacity can be applied to various projects including modelling and studies for such processes as the development of methodologies for the inclusion of new crops under UN climate change protocols.
